Code of Conduct

We want our convention to be a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for all of us. Therefore, in addition to the UK laws, and the hotel’s own policy, we have our own standards of expected behaviour. We ask that everyone behaves responsibly; any action or behaviour that is illegal, causes significant interference with event operations, causes excessive discomfort to other attendees, or adversely affects the convention’s relationship with the venue or the public, is strictly forbidden and may result in expulsion from the event.

We do not tolerate harassment at our convention, in any form. Everyone is entitled to a harassment free experience, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, nationality, or religion. If guests have specified pronouns, please respect these.

Harassment includes inappropriate physical contact, unwelcome sexual attention, offensive verbal comments, deliberate intimidation, stalking/following someone, and disrupting talks/panels.

All ships are welcome at HolmesCon, though there will be more focus on Johnlock. Ship shaming will not be tolerated.

We ask that you do not post photographs online without the express permission of those in the picture. Remember that cosplay is not automatic consent to be photographed, and you should always ask for permission before taking photos. In the same vein, please remember that not all guests use their given names online, and though guests may discover others name’s during the con, they should be sure that they do not share this personal information online.

If anyone engages in harassing behaviour, the convention organisers have the right to expel the offender from the convention without a refund.

If you feel you are being discriminated against or harassed, please reach out to one of the event organisers.

Cosplay is encouraged, though not compulsory. For those cosplaying John Watson, please be advised that replica weapons are forbidden. These could easily be mistaken for the real thing by a member of the public and cause major disruption to the event. Also be aware that blades are illegal in the UK, please do not attempt to bring any kind of blade to the convention.

Exclusive HolmesCon gifts must not be resold.

We will be checking emailed tickets upon arrival at the convention; please have these ready for inspection. All guests will then be provided with a souvenir ticket and a badge. Please wear your badge at all times, where it can easily be seen.

We look forward to welcoming you all at HolmesCon2020!
